BETWEEN US READERS

Give your books a second chapter

Finished with a pile of books and can't quite face taking them to the tip? I'd be glad to find them a new reader.

How it works

1

Tell me what you have

Send a rough list with title, author, condition and photos if possible to hello@betweenusreaders.co.uk.

2

I'll come back to you

Usually within a few days, with what I can take and the easiest way to get it to me.

3

Hand them over

Bring them to the stall, post them, or for a bigger lot in Essex, I can usually come and collect. If I can accept your books, I'll provide a pre-paid postage label for you to ship!

Books I'd love

  • Fiction of most kinds: crime and thriller, romance, romantasy and fantasy, historical, young adult, literary and contemporary
  • Children's and teen books, especially if you have a complete series
  • Anything from roughly the last ten to fifteen years
  • Well read is absolutely fine. A cracked spine or a soft corner doesn't bother me at all

Books I can't take

  • Anything damp, musty or mouldy, stained or yellowed because it spreads to everything else on the shelf
  • Missing or loose pages, water damage, or bindings that have given up
  • Textbooks, manuals, encyclopaedias, cook books, and condensed editions
  • Magazines and catalogues

Easiest of all, bring them to the stall

I'm at markets around Essex most weekends. If you're coming anyway, bring a bag and hand them over in person. It saves us both the postage, and I get to say thank you properly.

Every book you pass on gets sorted by hand, catalogued and put on the stall so it goes home with someone who might not otherwise have bought it. Anything I genuinely can't use goes to a local charity shop rather than the bin.
